Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced a Rs 20,000-crore defence industrial corridor for the Bundelkhand region to bring development in one of the most backward regions of Uttar Pradesh and praised the Yogi government for putting the state on the path of development in such a short span of time.
Two defence industrial corridors had been proposed in the union budget 2018-19.
The Prime Minister said one of them would come up in the Bundelkhand region of the state which will bring in an investment of Rs 20,000 crore and generate employment for 2.5 lakh people.
Inaugurating the UP Investors Summit 2018 here , he said, “Keeping in mind the development of Bundelkhand, the government has decided to extend the defence industries corridor in UP across Agra, Allahabad, Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi and Chitrakoot.”
The government earlier this month announced the first defence industrial corridor between Chennai and Bengaluru which would also pass through Coimbatore and several other industrial clusters.
The two-day mega event being organised in Lucknow to attract investments is being attended by top industrial heads, foreign delegates and senior union and state ministers.
